From Memory To Memoir

Write Your Memoir

Have you ever reflected on your life and thought, "Wow, I could write a book about this"? Well, you know we like to keep our events diverse and this workshop is tailored just for you – it's all about writing your own book which you can keep for private use as a manuscript or if you wish, publish in future.

If you didn't know,  it's memoir season, and some familiar names might catch your attention – Trevor Noah, Prince Harry, Viola Davis, Matthew Perry, Britney Spears. Now, this isn't solely because they're celebrities; it's because they've all penned their memoirs. While there's a lengthy list of celebrities with memoirs, what often goes unnoticed is that memoirs aren't exclusive to the famous; they're for everyone.

Each of us has a life, unique experiences, and, consequently, a story worth sharing.

Why Write A Memoir?

  1. The Healing Power of Words - Getting Your Feelings Out- Think of writing your memoir like chatting with an old friend. It's not just about telling stories; it's like a personal therapy session but unlike journal writing, there are twists and turns, the climax and the element of storytelling. It helps you figure out your feelings and understand yourself better. Ever write something down and feel a weight lifted? That's the magic of getting your thoughts out there
  2. Looking Back and Finding Cool Stuff - Reflection and Self-Discovery- Remember that time you thought you forgot? Turns out, your memories might just come back when you sit down and try to remember. Memoir writing is like digging up buried treasures—except the treasures are memories and emotions. It's like flipping through an old photo album and realizing, "Wow, I've been through a lot!" and yet here you are, still standing.
  3. Sharing Your Wins and Oops Moments - Empowerment through Storytelling- Celebs spill the beans in their memoirs to set the record straight and you can too!. Take the Beckham Netflix series, for example. We had no idea what he was dealing with because we only got what the media portrayed him to be, same goes for Britney Spears. Writing your memoir is like taking charge of your story. It's not just about what happened; it's about turning your life into a superhero story—complete with ups, downs, and triumphs. Plus, it's a chance to connect with others who've been through similar stuff. When we share, we all feel a bit stronger.

  4. Your Life's GPS - Finding Direction- Memoir writing is not just about thinking. It's like creating a roadmap of your life. It shows how far you've come, the tough stuff you tackled, and maybe points you in a new direction. Sometimes, we forget the dragons we've slayed, but seeing it all on paper is like a pat on the back saying, "You're awesome!
